Obituary

Alonzo D McDaniel went to be with the Lord on January 14, 2021. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Alonzo touched throughout his long and memorable life.

Alonzo was born on November 22, 1938 to the parents of John and Opal McDaniel in Sneedville, TN. It would be impossible to put his 82 years of life into this obituary. If you knew Alonzo “Mac” then you already know he was an unforgettable man. He was a protecting brother, a providing father, a compassionate grandfather, and a loyal friend. He was a simple man who was known for his quick wit, refreshing frankness, and uncompromised demeanor. He proudly served his country overseas in the United States Army. He faithfully held employment for 10 years at Koester Bakery followed by exemplary career at Roadway where he retired with the achievement of 2 million accident free miles. He spent the final years of his life happily at his home where he enjoyed working on his cars, mowing his lawn, watching westerns, and staying up to date with current events. Alonzo deeply cherished his family and he meant the world to them. He will be greatly missed, and his life and legacy will never be forgotten.

Alonzo was preceded in death by his parents, John and Opal McDaniel, his sister Mary Mitchell, and two brothers Carlo and Woodrow McDaniel.

Alonzo is survived by his sister, Madeline Ramsey of Tazewell, TN, his brother, Joe (Tersea) McDaniel, of Tazewell, TN, and his sister, Joanne Bussell of Sneedville, TN, and Georgia B. McDaniel of Hagerstown, MD, the mother of his children. His children, Sharon “Stringbean” Main of Westminster MD, Rebecca “Chub” Cromwell of Hagerstown, MD, Alonzo E “Mule” McDaniel (Rita) of Tazewell, TN, and Michelle “Plug” McDaniel (Jason Marren) of Hagerstown, MD.
